Fiji Courses in February 2025

The Core Facility Bioimaging is organizing two 2-day-Fiji-courses on Basic Microscopic Image Processing and Analysis, one at the beginning and one at the end of February 2025, both on Thursday and Friday. The exact dates are 6.+7. February and 27.+28. February. There are 15 spots in each course so that a total of 30 participants can be accepted. The course fee is between €200 and €300 Euro, depending on the number of applicants.
The course will be held by Jan Brocher from Biovoxxel. The content of the course will be more or less those listed on his web page here (except that we won't do it online but in person) and in the image below. Some changes are possible however, e.g. to adapt to the needs of the participants.
The courses will be on site at the BMC, the participants will be required to bring a Notebook on which a fresh version of Fiji is installed, plus the Biovoxxel plugins. This is required so that all participants will have the same software version, without extra-plugins or other user adaptations that possibly may interfere with those tools used during the course. Several installations of Fiji on the same computer in different folders are not a problem as long as there is sufficient disk space.
These courses will take place only if we have a sufficient number of applications by mid-December 2024. Therefore, please apply now if you are interested. The application form also has the option to state that you would like to take the course but that the proposed dates do not work for you: We would like to get an impression how many additional courses we might need, if the two scheduled now should be overbooked.

We are also considering to organize an advanced course on machine learning (what media often term "artificial intelligence") in analysis of microscopy images. Having visited on of the basic courses would be a precondition to visit this advanced course. This also would be a 2-day on-site course for a similar fee, possibly at the end of March 2025. In the application form you also can state your interest for such a second course.
